Where Heritage Meets Horizon

South Australia’s newest outdoor events venue & world famous Hillclimb

The Collingrove Hillclimb

Within the Collingrove settlement hides a dedicated racetrack – affectionately known as the Collingrove Hillclimb.

It was in 1952, when the Sporting Car Club of South Australia – itself one of the oldest and most esteemed organisations in the automotive world – constructed one of the world’s pre-eminent Hillclimb circuits. It would forever be known as the Collingrove Hillclimb.

A curling, undulating and steep bitumen racetrack, Collingrove Hillclimb meets Motorsport Australia standards and is recognised internationally as one of the most challenging Hillclimbs.

Hillclimb racing is an enduring motorsport discipline. Unlike circuit racing, Hillclimb circuits pit the driver against time, posing significant vehicle engineering challenges and complex and perplexing dynamics only the best drivers can overcome.

For more than 75 years, the Collingrove Hillclimb has been steeped in heritage and tradition, attracting some the world’s best drivers and race cars, yet retaining a humble charm that continues to draw families and grass roots enthusiasts.

What Goodwood is to the United Kingdom is what Collingrove is to Australasia.

Until 2025, the Collingrove Hillclimb was approximately 750 metres long, however in 2026, the Sporting Car Club of SA undertook extensive earthworks and construction to extend the course to 1000 metres, making it one of the world’s most challenging Hillclimbs.

The circuit itself climbs to an elevation of about 274 metres (900 feet), with the track itself climbing nearly 70 metres over its 1000 metre length. Flanked by ancient and giant native gums, Collingrove Hillclimb is one of motorsport’s most exhilarating circuits, with sharp corners, hairpins, roller coaster dips and soaring rises. During the colder months, you can almost touch the sky as the clouds descend at the top of the hill and over the finish line.

The Collingrove Hillclimb is owned, operated and managed by the Sporting Car Club of SA. It hosts a series of championships and race meetings ranging from Super Sprints, Hillclimb Championships, Time Attacks and open events for all models and drivers. Click here to view upcoming events .

The Collingrove Hillclimb offers a kiosk at events, coffee vans and other services, with tickets available. For ticketed events click here .

Today, the Collingrove Hillclimb remains part of the fabric of the motoring community in South Australia, offering young and old alike the chance to express themselves and explore and enjoy their motor vehicles, whether they be classic and historic collectable motorcars, or racing inspired vehicles from 100 years of motoring. The circuit is open to the general; public and offers a safe, family friendly environment.
