Where Heritage Meets Horizon
Collingrove Motorsport Park
Hill Climb is an exhilarating speed event where a single car and driver race up a defined uphill winding course from a standing start, competing against the clock. The Collingrove Hillclimb features a 750-metre track, and racing has been held at this iconic venue since 1952. Cars are classified into categories based on their performance capabilities, ensuring that vehicles with similar potential race against each other. However, the true challenge lies in the individual contest, where each driver aims to improve their personal best time—pitting the hill and the clock against the car and the driver. Competitors often say hill climbing is the best fun you can have while sitting down with a seat belt on!
Each year, the event features several key competitions, including the four-round Collingrove Challenge Trophy, the four-round Winter Cup series, two Come & Try days for newcomers, and the prestigious South Australian Hillclimb Championship. We also host the Australian Hillclimb Championship when South Australia is allocated the rotation.
In October, we celebrate the past with the Barossa Vintage Collingrove, where vintage cars and their drivers take to the hill in a spectacular display of historic automobiles.
In 2020, we introduced an additional Season Finale Event, adding even more excitement to the calendar.
The Sporting Car Club owns and operates the Collingrove Hillclimb track, located in the picturesque Barossa Valley, approximately 7km south of Angaston, off the Angaston to Mt Pleasant Rd. The track has been in operation since 1952 and has hosted some of Australia’s most famous hillclimb vehicles and competitors on its challenging course.
The 750-metre track features a demanding uphill climb, ascending nearly 70 metres from the start line to the finish. Prior to the 2025 season, the track was resealed, and an additional 300-metre extension was added, offering an alternative route alongside the historic track. The club also upgraded the return road with a smooth asphalt surface, enhancing the overall experience. Spectators are treated to numerous vantage points and picnic areas around the track, while the Clubrooms and deck provide an elevated view of the start line, offering an excellent spot to watch the action unfold.
